13. SMS Text Messaging

Barney Court offers SMS text messaging services to provide updates about your case and important notifications. By opting in to receive SMS messages, you agree to the following:

13.1 Opt-in Process

You can opt-in to receive SMS messages by checking the consent checkbox when submitting a case through our intake form. The checkbox will appear before you complete your case submission and includes clear language about SMS messaging.

By checking the opt-in box, you consent to receive SMS text messages from Barney Court at the phone number you provide. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier plan.

13.2 Message Types and Frequency

If you opt-in, you may receive SMS messages for:

  • Case submission confirmations
  • Case status updates
  • Important notifications about your case

Message frequency varies based on case activity, but typically you will receive 1-3 messages per case submission.

13.3 Opt-out Process

You can opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time by replying to any message with one of the following keywords:

  • STOP - Unsubscribe from SMS messages
  • STOPALL - Unsubscribe from all messages
  • UNSUBSCRIBE - Unsubscribe from SMS messages
  • QUIT - Unsubscribe from SMS messages

After opting out, you will receive a confirmation message. You will no longer receive SMS messages from Barney Court unless you opt back in.

You can opt back in at any time by replying START, YES, or UNSTOP to any message, or by checking the opt-in box again when submitting a new case.

13.4 Carrier Information

Message and data rates may apply. Standard message and data rates apply according to your mobile carrier's plan. Barney Court is not responsible for any charges incurred from your mobile carrier.

Not all mobile carriers support SMS messaging. If you are unsure whether your carrier supports SMS, please contact your carrier directly.

13.5 SMS Service Provider

We use Twilio, a third-party SMS service provider, to send SMS messages. Your phone number and message content are shared with Twilio to facilitate message delivery. For more information about Twilio's privacy practices, please visit their privacy policy.
